Matthew Kain
Matthew Kain is Chief Executive Officer of the Kain Knight Group of companies, where his responsibilities include developing and implementing high-level strategy, monitoring operational, marketing, business development and financial performance, and overseeing risk to support the Group’s growth.
Matthew joined Kain Knight in 1997 as a trainee law costs draftsman, initially working on legally aided matters before moving into the firm’s specialist insurance team, which included defending claims for costs arising from solicitors’ professional negligence. He has extensive experience preparing and opposing substantial bills in high-value personal injury claims, group litigation, employment tribunal matters, and costs from Central Funds. For the latter part of his time practising as a fee earner, he was involved in some of the largest cases before the Commercial Court, including disputes often involving parallel cross-border proceedings. He was appointed a director in 2005 and became a Regulated Costs Lawyer in 2008
